NewsProNet Launches Digital
Delivery of Strategic Broadcast Content Through
Pathfire's Digital Media Gateway
ATLANTA, GA, October 7, 2004 -
Pathfire, Inc., the leading provider of digital
content distribution and management solutions
for the broadcast industry, announced today
an agreement with NewsProNet,
a leader in strategic content solutions for
local television broadcasters, to distribute
their strategic content products to NewsProNet's
more than 150 local broadcast affiliate subscribers.
NewsProNet is already delivering their market-exclusive
SweepsFeed and Discoveries & Breakthroughs
Inside Science® reports via Pathfire's Digital
Media Gateway (DMG) and will be launching
their new "Heads Up!" consumer watchdog
service in November.
Pathfire's DMG, an automated IP
multicast distribution platform, distributes
and manages content to over 1,100 broadcast
stations in the US and Canada. "Newsrooms
now have immediate desktop access to NewsProNet's
content, eliminating the need to roll tape on
scheduled satellite feeds," said Pat Poersch,
Pathfire's Director of Short-Form Content Distribution.
"By selecting Pathfire DMG as their digital
content distribution service, NewsProNet is
poised to expand its distribution network to
additional stations throughout Pathfire's vast
footprint."
"The time was right for us
to make this move," said Michael Shoer,
President & CEO for NewsProNet. "Through
Pathfire's DMG we now reach virtually 100% of
our affiliates, providing them with convenient
access to our material. Our strategic content
plays an important role in the editorial planning
for our clients, and through Pathfire's DMG,
we're taking advantage of a widely accepted
and reliable distribution method that ensures
the material is available when they need it,"
said Shoer.
Pathfire's digital distribution
of content and metadata improves newsroom workflow
and efficiency by eliminating the need to monitor
satellite feed schedules and roll content to
tape. Newsroom personnel simply search, select,
preview and dub content as needed, right from
their desktops.
